PIERRE – Sioux Falls will get another option in how to deal with the taxidermy collection at the Delbridge Museum of Natural History following Senate passage Thursday of a bill that would allow the city to seek an out-of-state destination.

Passage of House Bill 1100 came without debate on the Senate floor, and it hinges on a signature from Gov. Kristi Noem.

The bill adds an exception to a 1996 state law that allows cities and counties to donate museum artifacts they own to a nonprofit organization for display – but only a nonprofit within state borders. The original law was a response to a West River controversy over the transfer of dinosaur remains.
