Lawyers spar over fate of USD professor who called Charlie Kirk 'Nazi'
Facebook post went viral and was condemned by conservatives following assassination

A federal judge said Wednesday that she will issue a ruling soon on whether to grant a temporary restraining order to a University of South Dakota professor who was put on administrative leave following a Facebook post.
Judge Karen Schreier heard from lawyers representing USD art professor Phillip Michael Hook and the state of South Dakota, one day after Hook filed a lawsuit to stop the state from moving to terminate him. About 40 of Hook’s supporters filled the courtroom.
Hook came under fire for a Facebook post that called conservative activist Charlie Kirk a “hate spreading Nazi” hours after Kirk had been assassinated on Sept. 10. He also suggested that Kirk’s family would be better off with him dead.
