When people comment about how she was never in Pierre, they really weren't joking. Honestly, the people of SD should be upset and angry about most of these expenses. All this travel is appalling and you can't convince me this was all on 'state business'.
Did you guys get a comment from Noem about this??? I'd certainly be interested in how she justified it, especially the $30k she charged after Trump announced her nomination to head Homeland Security !!
Noem flew to Paris to speak at a Worldwide Freedom Initiative "event" in November, 2023. [Her autobiographical speech to a small audience of mostly foreign conservatives is still streamable, I believe.] The WFI describes itself as follows: "The WFI Project unites renowned and influential center right, conservative and patriotic politicians, economists, intellectuals, grassroots leaders and businessmen and women from all over the world in order to exchange their views on today’s challenges and share their perspective and experiences on tomorrow’s solutions." [Fellow presenter, Corey Lewandowski, most likely orchestrated her invitation.] There is nothing to suggest that this trip was related to official state business. It was strictly Kristi Noem promoting Kristi Noem to a bunch of people who don't have the foggiest idea what South Dakota is, let alone where it is. So does Noem owe her beloved state $7,555, just for starters? Absolutely. And let's hope that somebody in state government has enough respect for us to do something about it.
Isn't General Jackley considering a run in the next governor's race? She spent alla this on just South Dakota's 'dime', I'm already imagining what she'll do with our country's tax money at her disposal!
I wonder if any of these bookings were made with hotels.com?????
I see the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa is a 4-star hotel, but not too expensive, it seems. Room rate is only $149/night, according to their website. The charges were quite a bit more, so I'm guessing she [or her staff] rented more rooms for the security folks. I remember when I was in the National Guard and needed to stay in a motel on the Army's dime, I would look for the cheapest place.
I’ve also seen where there are voucher payments probably for her Staye staff that were allowed $75 for the longest time and is now $110. Nobody has mentioned that!
