When the rock mine east of Interstate 29 in central Sioux Falls runs dry, Sioux Falls drivers can anticipate sitting at more train traffic.
That’s according to the company that operates the bustling quarry that helps supply the concrete, gravel and sand used in construction projects across the upper Midwest.
As Minnehaha County continues to explore the possibility of relocating its fairgrounds and selling off the existing campus, North Dakota-based Knife River Corp. remains hopeful to buy the county-owned property that its quartzite mine surrounds.
