Coming off his most significant political victory in eight months as South Dakota’s top executive, Gov. Larry Rhoden’s long-anticipated decision on his 2026 plans could be imminent.

That’s the scuttle after a spokesman for Rhoden took to social media to suggest that South Dakota doesn’t need a new governor following Rhoden’s victory in securing funding for a new men’s prison during a special session Sept. 23.
