That $600,000 should have been much better spent to provide free school lunches for children.

Which would cover 865 students for entire school year

Who wants children to go hungry? Who approved of Noem galivanting around the country at our expense?

What is wrong with Rhoeden—doesn’t he want to represent South Dakotans throughout the nation? I’m being facetious, but if it’s not a problem for him to adhere to SD law in this regard, whether he says it or not, the clear implication is that Noem’s use of state funds to promote herself was not appropriate. SDCL §3-9-4. "No state officer or employee shall incur any expense payable out of any appropriated funds or other agency funds for travel or other personal expense, including meals, lodging, transportation, or other miscellaneous expenses, except on official state business."

Just another republican who talks about cut-backs and then spends, spends, spends. This is true financial abuse against the state that "hired" her. My guess, she learned well from her cult idol, trump. How many millions of tax dollars has our 'wanna be king' already spent playing golf? These people don't care about all the pain they are causing average Americans as long as it leads to greater wealth for the filthy rich! What do they say...Elect a clown, get a circus! I hope a whole lot of republican fools are wearing their red noses! You must be so proud! (gag!)

Why don’t you do something about her illegal spending governor. The AGs office won’t even discuss it and says to call your office. Yet if a state employee does something wrong you are all over that. As you should be. Do the right thing. Get back our money from the former governor.

It would be a significant public service if Governor Rhoden asked Noem and staffers from her administration(s) to prepare an out-of-state travel spreadsheet listing where she went, when she went and why she went.

Although the recently disclosed credit card records might disclose imprudent extravagance—newsworthy, to be sure—to me the pivotal legal concern is whether all of Noem's travel was legitimately connected to “official state business.” Even if South Dakota has no statutory definition of “state business” or “official state business,” common sense will ordinarily suffice to distinguish between what is and what isn’t.

One of Noem’s first published “priorities” in 2019 was to provide us with the “most transparent administration in the history of South Dakota.” Obviously, she never came close, but, she also never deleted the promise. It is indisputable that South Dakotans have a right to know whether our money was always spent legally—and ethically. If Noem retains a shred of respect for her former constituents, she will cooperate with her full disclosure.

Another "read my lips!" promise?

I suspect Governor Rhoden's credit card expenditures "won't be a problem" because he's never going to reveal them; maybe he can put The Dakota Scout on "double super secret probation"? After all, with our Cracker Jack head investigator Marty Jackley on the job, the Gear Up scandal was met with a giant shrug and an "I dunno, guess it's just gone", and the EB5 scandal was likewise swiftly swept under the rug. I would guess that rug has lots more room to hide almost any financial misconduct by our elected masters.
