Only the omnipotent could have known the odyssey that lay ahead for a young Robert Gusinsky — a path that began six decades ago in Latvia, wound through Israel and Germany, crossed the skies as an airline pilot, and ultimately landed in South Dakota’s highest court.
On Monday, Gov. Larry Rhoden announced Gusinsky’s appointment to the South Dakota Supreme Court, naming the Seventh Circuit’s presiding judge to fill a spot behind the bench vacated by the retirement of Justice Janine Kern.
