Election chief: Tighter petition deadlines would raise hurdle for South Dakota candidates, time for auditors

Shorter deadlines for circulating nominating petitions would make elections easier to manage for county auditors and city clerks.

That’s according to Lincoln County’s top election official, who this week offered her support of legislation working its way through the South Dakota Legislature that would do just that.
