A cadre of South Dakota cops have returned from California where they spent a week analyzing drugged-out test subjects. And the nine law enforcement officers from different policing agencies throughout the state can now list human lie detector on their résumés after completing specialized training to catch drugged drivers.

Officers from the Beresford Police Department, Box Elder Police Department, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Police, Hand County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Turner County Sheriff’s Office, Vermillion Police Department and Watertown Police Department, have completed South Dakota’s 20th Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) class, according to the Department of Public Safety.
