The City Council on Tuesday renewed the liquor license for La Corretta after a tense, half‑hour debate over late‑night noise and police calls that spotlighted cultural fault lines in northwest Sioux Falls.

The unanimous vote lets the Mexican nightclub at 2309 W. Madison St. keep serving through April 30, 2026.

Councilor Jennifer Sigette, who represents the Northwest District, pulled the renewal — Item 19 on the consent agenda — after residents contacted her about booming bass and late‑night disturbances. The confrontation underscores City Hall’s effort to balance a growing Latino nightlife scene with neighborhood quality of life.
