I for one welcome him...I am old enough to remember when men who cared about my country had Civil discourse at the card table, down at the elevator, in the barber shop, local pub etc etc....our younger generations have never seen that and maybe never will....the people who emulate Donald Trump think that spewing hatred and nicknames and disgusting "locker room" remarks is somehow going to help with solutions...We can do better, South Dakota and i wish there was somewhere we could talk sincerely to one another without this divisive partisan worn out bullshit....our government is not getting it done...we're going to have to stop playing along with this crap and elect more intelligent citizens

Wow! Such snotty comments! I don't think he's ignoring Maui, if that's even in his jurisdiction. Wonder if our governor will meet with him.

Oh, and welcome Mr. Buttigieg; we aren't all jerks.

He's the Secretary of Transportation.....for the United States of America so yes, Maui is in his jurisdiction.

But the federal funds for which he is responsible are not the emergency funds dedicated to Maui. That may come later.

Dakota Scout: Are you having a writers' strike? Is that why you printed the WH press release pretty much verbatim?

I think he's really coming out for the Trump Rally in Rapid City, but as Trans Secretary and since he's done so well so far, his plane will probably be late (he wrote sarcastically)!!!

At this point though, I would think that Maui's infrastructure needs might be more important than truckers' parking lots. Truckers are not bureaucrats and have common sense enough to pull over and rest if they need to do so.
