A Sioux Falls drug dealer whose fentanyl-laced heroine led to the overdose deaths of two people lost a bid Tuesday to have his sentence overturned.

Jeffery Darnell Moore was sentenced last year to 35 years in federal prison after a jury found him guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin and two counts of distributing fentanyl leading to death.

Moore appealed his sentence to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing that text messages between himself and one of the overdose victims should not have been admitted in his trial, and that the evidence was not sufficient for a conviction.
