PIERRE—Time is running out on a panel of South Dakota lawmakers to identify a viable path to property tax reform.

Déjà vu hangs over the Comprehensive Property Tax Task Force, echoing last winter’s legislative session when only one property tax relief measure stood in the waning hours of the the 2025 Capitol gathering — Gov. Larry Rhoden’s Senate Bill 216 — revived from the dead after more than two dozen other proposals failed.
