First, he killed a bowling tax that had been in the city of Sioux Falls' ordinance books for decades.

Now, City Councilor David Barranco is gunning for a long-standing annual fee another niche industry in Sioux Falls has been burdened with since the early 1990s.

The Southeast District councilor this week advanced a proposal to repeal what he called a "micro-tax" that skating rinks within city limits are subjected to: a $50 yearly operations license that’s applied to private ice rinks and roller skating locations.
